The Observatory on Italian Independent Regulators’ RIA, was founded in 2009 following an agreement drawn up between the Department of Legal Sciences of the University of Tuscia (Viterbo) and the Faculty of Law of the “Parthenope” University of Naples.

The observatory, consisting of political scientists, economists, jurists and communication experts (the team). Its President is Alessandro Natalini. Its main purpose is to constantly monitor the application of Regulatory Impact Analysis (RIA) methodology by the eight Italian Independent Regulators with regulatory and surveillance powers in the economic sector. It also produces analyses, papers and case studies as well as investigations and comparisons with the most significant international experiences.

In 2019, the observatory appointed Claudio as new Chair of the Scientific Committee:

The Osservatorio AIR and its members are delighted to welcome Professor Claudio Radaelli to his new role as Chair of Scientific Committee. Claudio brings a wealth of expertise from his long-standing experience in the study of better regulation and regulatory governance. Claudio succeeds Professor Giulio Vesperini, whom we thank for his dedication to improving the scientific profile of our activities during his time as Chair.
